We're on a mission to rescue 100,000 kilos of cherries.
Supermarkets set unrealistic beauty standards for cherries, leading to millions being wasted each year. Even worse, it’s all for looks. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the taste of these cherries!
That’s why every year, we team up with local growers to rescue these perfectly imperfect cherries and deliver them straight from the farm to your door.
Why supermarkets reject cherries (and why we don't)
A little wonky.
Blemished.
Missing stem.
A bit too small.
What's the impact of cherry beauty standards?
Growing cherries is a gamble for farmers. These delicate fruits are highly vulnerable to weather shifts, even a bit of rain at the wrong time can cause cracking or splitting, making them “imperfect” by supermarket standards and rejected by major retailers. When that happens, farmers are left with little choice but to throw away a large portion of their crop.
Because farmers bear all the growing costs themselves, every rejected harvest delivers a major financial hit. For some, it can even mean shutting down their farms entirely.
For consumers, this results in a smaller supply and ultimately higher prices, making cherries harder for everyone to enjoy.

How Farmers Pick is supporting local farmers.
We’ve partnered with local farmers to fairly purchase and rescue cherries that would otherwise be rejected by supermarkets and major retailers, helping to ease the financial burden on growers.
Not only will you enjoy cherries that taste just as delicious as their “perfect” counterparts, but you’ll also make a positive impact on the environment and support your local farming community.

We’re source our cherries from some of Australia’s finest growers:

Then move through the beautiful cherry region of Young
Finally, we finish the season in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley
Each farm has a short harvest window which is anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the weather and market conditions.
Cherries are very sensitive to the weather. Even a little rain at the wrong time can cause them to crack or split, which makes them “imperfect” by supermarket standards and gets them rejected by major retailers. We rescue these cherries directly from local farmers so they don’t go to waste. They’re still completely safe to eat and taste just as delicious as their “perfect” counterparts.
To keep your cherries fresh, store them unwashed in the fridge and only wash them right before eating. This helps them stay tasty for longer, usually up to a week. For even longer storage, you can pit and freeze them.
Yes, you can purchase cherries as a gift, they are perfect for gifting, parties, or just spoiling yourself.
Because our cherries are rescued and may have small cracks or splits, some imperfection is expected. But if your cherries arrive damaged, mouldy or too soft to enjoy, please contact our customer support team and we’ll make it right. Including a photo of the box helps us sort it out quickly.
