The food system is broken. We're here to fix it.

The food system needs to change

Here’s what the big supermarkets don’t put on their labels:

Wheelbarrow

1.7 million tonnes of food is lost on Australian farms every year

Cloche

3.5 million Aussie households struggle to put food on the table

Starfish

Overfishing is getting worse every year, putting endangered species at risk

Cow

80% of beef sold in Australian supermarkets comes from feedlots

This motivates us to do things differently.

We saw the problem and couldn't leave it alone.

"In 2020, after learning about the issues surrounding our food system, we packed our van, drove out to a cauliflower farm, and asked a simple question: what if we bought the produce supermarkets reject, paid farmers fairly, and got it to people's doors at an honest price?

The answer became Farmers Pick.

And as the business grew, so did we.

We got married, had kids, and something shifted. You hold these tiny humans and suddenly you're obsessed with reading every product label, questioning ingredients you don't recognise, wondering what's actually in the food you're about to feed them. We're pretty sure most families know that feeling all too well.

We couldn't forget what we learned about the food system, so we decided to do something about it. On top of rescuing perfectly imperfect produce, we now have ethically raised meat, responsibly caught seafood, and pantry staples with ingredients you can actually recognise. Ones we'd put in front of our own kids without a second thought.

Our goal is simple: real food, at a fair price, for your family and ours."

We do things differently.
Here's how.

Shorter supply chains, fresher food
We seek out direct relationships with Australian growers and producers, cutting out the middlemen wherever we can. Shorter supply chains mean food travels less, arrives fresher, and farmers get paid more fairly for what they grow.

Responsible production, always
We look for farmers and producers committed to high animal welfare and environmental standards, from how they raise their animals to how they manage their soil.

Better ingredients, better taste
We seek out pantry products with clean, quality ingredients. No unnecessary additives, no artificial preservatives. Just real food that tastes the way it’s supposed to.

Fairer economics for everyone
We prioritise supply chains where farmers are paid properly for what they grow - and we work to pass those savings on. Farmers paid fairly. Consumers who can access quality groceries more affordably.

What about our own food waste?

We know food waste is an unavoidable part of what we do. So we've built a system to make sure as little as possible actually goes to waste.

Surplus fruit and veg, including anything that's ripened and won't travel, gets donated to OzHarvest, the food rescue organisation that turns it into meals for people in need. Since becoming their proud supporters, we've donated over 268,000 kilos of produce.

Anything that's not safe for human consumption goes to a nearby pig farm where they use it as feed. Nothing ends up in landfill.

The result? 100% of our waste reduced or repurposed.

"Imperfect" simply means the produce may have cosmetic differences like unusual shapes, sizes, or slight marks. But it’s still fresh, high-quality, and perfectly safe to eat.

In fact, it meets the same food safety standards as what you’d find in supermarkets. We’re just giving this produce a home instead of letting it go to waste.

Yes! We know planning ahead is important. You can view what’s currently in our boxes and preview upcoming selections via our What’s In the Box page.

Keep in mind that contents can vary slightly depending on what’s in season and available from our farmers.

Yes. There a few ways to make your box works for your household.

For your produce box, you can exclude up to four items before each delivery.

For meat, seafood, and dairy, you can either choose our Butcher's Choice box -a curated selection of meat cuts sized to your household- or build your own by picking exactly the meat, seafood, and dairy items you want.

For pantry items or any other extras, you can add and swap ahead of each delivery.

All changes can be made through your account before your next order is packed.

All of our meat is sourced directly from Australian farmers we trust. It’s grass-fed, grass-finished, and free-range. We work with Farmstead Meats who have experienced butchers carefully prepare everything to ensure quality, safety, and freshness.

Our standards are the same across all suppliers, big or small: responsible practices, transparency, and real commitment to marine environments. We prioritise line-caught seafood for lower bycatch, and farmed species must meet strong welfare and environmental benchmarks. These standards keep evolving as we learn more.

Our produce boxes are tracked against supermarket prices weekly, and on average come in up to 30% cheaper on fruit and veg. For meat, the comparison is different. We deliver grass-fed, grass-finished beef and free-range pork and poultry at prices that make butcher-quality meat a realistic part of your weekly shop.

Not at all. Farmers Pick is completely flexible, so you can skip, pause, or cancel anytime before your order cut-off. No lock-ins, no commitments.

It’s easy. After you place your first order, you’ll be sent details on how to log into your customer portal. Then, simply log into your account to skip a delivery, pause your subscription, or change how often you receive your box (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly).

Just make sure to make any changes before your order cut-off.

If something isn’t up to standard, we want to fix it quickly. Just reach out to our Customer Experience team via our Contact Us page, and we’ll sort it out as soon as possible.
